Misdirected IPA.jpg

misdirected american style ipa

Misdirected IPA was brewed to turn the IPA experience upside down. At the time existing IPA was all bitter and not balanced with malt and hops character we know today. We brewed this beer with a crisp start and slow lingering finish. At the time hard to find hops such as Citra, Simcoe, and Amarillo where used in this beer. The hops provided a fruit citrus note that was not available at this time. The west coast style and west coast hops make this beer great. The beer will bring out the prankster in you.

Shades Brewing. 4-Play Porter.jpg

4-play american style porter

4 PLAY PORTER gets its name from our pilot friend Marilyn Dash aka “Dasher”. She currently resides in Reno and flies “Ruby” a Red and White Pits biplane. During one of the events her male competitors unbeknownst to her tagged her plane with giant white letters “4 Play” . They are large enough that the crowd watching the races could see them from the ground. We found this story amusing and felt it would be a nice tribute to all female pilots competing with the men. The porter is a hybrid between porter and stout. This blends both in a nice balance. At higher ABV only Chocolate notes are apparent with no roast. 3.2% abv going to 4% abv by volume by November 1st, 2019.
