About Us
Shades Brewing started the way a lot of good stories do—on a shoestring and a wild hunch. Trent Fargher and Alexandra Ortiz built it from a 500-square-foot garage in Park City, brewing nights and weekends, powered by grit and curiosity. In 2015, we moved to Salt Lake City into what could generously be called an old meat packing plant. No heat. No A/C. Guests had to walk half a block through a maze of abandoned coolers and smoker rooms just to find us. It took nerves of steel and a serious thirst.
And still, people came.
Because when the beer is good—really good—people will find you, even in a back alley. We believe in hard work, dedication, and beer worth remembering. We’re here to create experiences that matter, and a community that keeps coming back for more. This isn’t just brewing. It’s belief in what’s possible.
